Duration

The duration of the session is 9 hours (3 reading + 3 learning + 3 working/practicing)

Objectives

The Objectives of this session are:

  • Develop students’ confidence in leading initiatives and developing educational programmes for EDC/HRE/IE.
  • Familiarise students with key tools on EDC/HRE including the Council of Europe’s Framework for development of democratic culture.
Learning outcomes

On the completion of the session,  students will be able to:

  • Outline the phases of the development of Schemes of Work (SoW) and lesson plans for (Education for Democracy)/HRE (Human Rights Education)/IE (Intercultural Education.
  • Develop Schemes of Work (SoW) and lesson plans for (Education for Democracy)/HRE (Human Rights Education)/IE (Intercultural Education.
  • Include functionally CDC. (Competence for Democratic Culture) in the design of Schemes of Work (SoW) and lesson plans considering what competence is coherent and transparent related to the objectives of the subject curriculum and what it is realistic for the allocated time.

For that reason read from the reading list the compulsory readings and then follow the presentation of the session watching the two E-lessons and reading the learning material

Basic Topics

The contents of the learning materials are:

  • Writing Schemes of Work and lesson plans for EDC (Education for Democracy)/HRE (Human Rights Education)/IE (Intercultural Education).
  • Writing Schemes of Work and lesson plans for a curriculum subject.

At the end, don't forget to evaluate your learning results (assessment) with the online quiz (on the completion of the reading and learning units) and submit a written lesson plan (on the completion of the workshops).

Intended learning outcomes

On the completion of the session students will be able to

  1. Online quiz on the completion of the reading and learning  hours
  2. Written lesson plan on the completion of the workshop

A series of resources that the student teacher must study in this session and a series of additional resources for further study.

A full paper and additional e-lessons on the topics of the session and additional interactive presentation of the materials, for the student teachers to study all the materials in a row.

A series of authentic, up to date and relevant activities with their accompanying materials, which deliver the intended learning outcomes of the session and are carried out face to face or E-learning with groups of student teachers.

Several types of questions to evaluate how much the student teachers have learned throughout the session (reading material, learning material and workshop).
